Calhan Colorado was the destination for Las Vegas based SGF
Racing this weekend. This track is billed as the worlds
highest karting track, although I think there is a higher
one in Mexico that one of our drivers raced at last year...
She is certainly at the top of her game having won two
different IKF regions in R11 and R4A to make a total of 5
IKF regional wins more than anyone else in Kid Karting this
season. Add to that the 3rd at IKF Grands, 2nd at Kid Kart
Nationals and you could argue that she is one of the top
drivers in the US if not the top driver.
She was
running a new engine for us and had to give up about a
second a lap because it was tight. "She simply out drove the
competition" said a proud Keith St. George after he cleared
tech. "We had to jet way leaner than we had before because
we were at 6800 feet. The second place driver was really
good and coming on strong, but she made the chassis work and
took the win by a half second."
Thanks for
breaking in that engine for us Chloe and thanks for being
such a good representative for the Tornado Driver Factory
Team. Chloe is a development driver for us. We wanted to
sponsor some minority drivers and female drivers to help
diversify the sport.

Tornados
Take home 3 Trophies Thursday and 4 on Friday
Chris
Trickle came back to the Tornado team for this race and took
home the first ever Screaming Eagle for the pole in Kid
Karts and then did it again the next day. Just turned 6 year old Jerett Tachovsky wowed
experienced racer by putting his Tornado into 3rd place,
Chloe St. George did her best on little sleep and ran 5th.
The next day Chloe would place third, Trickle Fourth and
Branden Weaver 5th , putting three Tornado Drivers on the
podium.
When we have a chance we'll add more detail. Jeremy Drew's
son Jake had
practiced more than any other driver for this race and was
the clear winner on both days. His dad is an expert kart
racers with 7 Duffy's over 25 years. Congratulations to Jake, he's got 8 more Duffys to win to pass up to his Dad. The
Barracuda was
showing all his teeth this week as Jake won both days.
Jeremy may not be the riches team with the biggest trailer
but he's rich with memories of long hard practices with his
son and two long races for the win.
So the
count for the two national races had the Tornado Kid Kart
drivers taking home 13 of the 22 available trophies. Our goal was to
put at least one driver on the podium in each race and we
way over achieved that. Our talented drivers hauled in
almost 2/3rds of the trophies. Thanks for taking us to
victory lane with you.
Kaleb
Allison Wins 66
Kaleb
won the Route 66 again on Saturday in New Castle Indiana.
He's become the dominant force in the series this season
with his new Tornado Cadet and Miniswift.
Biles
and Shankleton Sweep New Castle on Tornados
Jaydon
Biles continues to dominate in the Midwest on his Tornado as
he won again at New Castle in the Kid Kart class. Shankleton
was in second in his Tornado as they two drivers swept the
competition for the Tornado Team.
CSSS
Poles for Owen and Braden
Owen
Leatherberry had an engine explode when the flywheel
cracked but he pulled out the backup and still took the
pole. Braden Johnson took the pole by 3 tenths in the Tag 60
Cadet field in Delmar Iowa's regional CSSS race.
Congratulations to our two Tornado factory drivers. They
race Sunday for the heat and final. The heats were postponed
because the rain came in. Rain in Iowa again, wow.

Updates - 2009 Cadet Debuts
Michael
Schneider took the 2009 Cadet prototype out on the track in
Norman Oklahoma and ran from last to second after a
collision knocked him off the track. He said the kart was
easier to drive and more comfortable in the corners. He
finished second on the day to Alex Udell the 11 year old
that is ranked second in the nation. Cole Glasson and Hannah
Williams took 4th and 5th in the Tag 60 class and hold on to
their points leads for the Tornado team.
Cole
Glasson Wins KART National Tag60
Cole
traveled way up North for the first National Championship of
the Season. It was the KART national. Cole took the pole,
heat win and Final win. He becomes one of the youngest
drivers ever to win a National race.
Route
66 Update Kaleb Takes Pole and Wins
Young
Kaleb Allison took the pole in Cadet and qualified 6th in
the full field of Yamaha drivers. This was a slippery track
and it helped Kaleb qualify well in the full size kart. He's
been supper fast in the Cadet and was the pole by almost a
half second but we've been trying to find the right set up
for the Tornado Hail full size chassis. In the final today
Kaleb won in the Tag 60 class. He wasn't the fastest but he
was consistent enough to put together a winning race. This
young driver is for real and much older drivers are taking
notice of the hard charging Allison.
Congratulations
Kaleb, thanks for taking us to victory lane with you!
Tornado
Kid Karts Dominate Route 66
Jaydon
Biles driving a Tornado Kid Kart walked away with the race on his home track, he was
followed by Owen Leatherberry in second and Dillon Swanbeck
in 4th (up from 12th) and Logan Mitchell. The four Tornado
karts set the pace all weekend and Egan Shankleton took the
pole in his Tornado but was involved in a wreck and couldn't
get back to the front in the final or we might have had a
sweep of the podium.
Two
competitors were sent home because of fuel issues as Dunn
and Chapin ran afoul of the officials. Tech also tore down
the top three engines and showed they are serious about
keeping the racing fair. Everyone of the Tornados passed
tech.
Michael
Schneider 2nd Nationally in Rotax
At
only 8 years old our Tornado Factory driver is currently
ranked 2nd in the nation in the Rotax ranking system.
Congratulations Michael 2nd of 54 is great!
Connor
Spencer On Podium at LVMS
We
are pleased to announce that Connor Spencer has joined the
Tornado Factory Team of drivers. Connor is the son of famed
Fast Freddie Spencer. At 21, Freddie Spencer had become the
youngest World Grand Prix Champion in history. Connor is
development nicely and got third this weekend at the Las
Vegas Motorspeedway. Cruz Fiore won the race and Donny
Williams son got second, all were racing Tornado Chassis.
Connor
just took delivery of a new 2009 Tornado Kid Kart. Here is
what Freddie had to say about the kart:
Connor really
is liking the new chassis. He ran in qualifying 2 seconds
faster then in the other kart!!! and in both the pre-main
and main his lap times only varied about 3 to 4 tenths
over the race distance. His improvement was in carrying
more corner speed and keeping the revs up!! You could see
that he was more comfortable and that he could use more of
the track! Freddie Spencer - Las Vegas Nevada.
Jared
Mitchell recently tested the new 2009 Tornado against the
2008 and found similar results. He reported that they gained
4 tenths on a 40 second lap time. The 2009 is easier to
drive then the 2008 and a bit looser. We should see the
benefits of the 2009 chassis as the summer months wear on
and the tracks get sticky. Thanks for all the positive
feedback Factory Drivers!
Tornado
Kid Karts Win CSSS Opener and Braden on Pole
Owen
Leatherberry traveled from Wisconsin to test the waters in
Pevely Missouri before next months Kid Kart Nationals. It
was a rough weekend as the crew chief fought chains falling
off, clogged jets and other gremlins. In the end Greg got
the Tornado wound up and Owen did the rest. Owen would race
our other Tornado drivers in the field Logan and Mason
Mitchell as well as a dozen other top regional drivers.
Owen
had so many problems getting on the track that it was
hurting his chances of figuring out the track. The track was
being run backward so everyone was trying to figure it out.
Owen was running RJ Lantz's old engine and it ran third last
year at the Kid Kart Nationals. It really remembered the
track and the jetting was a bit more aggressive than the Mitchell's.
Logan would finish just behind Owen.
Braden
Johnson was racing Cadets for the first time at the Central
States Super Series. Braden is the reigning kid kart
champion of IKF R7 and the CSSS. Braden took the pole in the
Tag 60 class, he had a scrap for second after getting off
the track and ended up third. A pretty good start to the
season.

Tornado
Kid Karts Lead All IKF Regional Series
Tornado
Kid Kart drivers now lead all the IKF Regional series as Cruz Fiore
leads Saturdays large class of R7 points, Conner Hanson leads the
Sunday Kid Kart Heavy class and Chloe St. George leads the
R11 series with four straight wins. Others have won
individual races but are falling to closer and closer
inspection by Tech. Engine failures are also causing their
toll on competitors. We have only two competitors in the
field of 20 that regularly run the series and they are both
in the top 5 in points. Cruz and Chloe battle for the podium
with Cruz taking the spot on the last turn. Cruz was
hampered by a bent axle. He had tried a replacement axle
from a Kid Kart supplier back East but it was 2 seconds
slower.
To
win a series you have to be able to be consistently fast,
you have to follow the rules and you have to have some luck.
We have had the good fortune of winning the IKF series last
year and having 3 of the top 5 in points. We've lead the
series in points this season and others are getting more
aggressive in trying to catch up.
Kaleb
Wins Wii
At Tag Shoot Out Memorial Day
!!
Kaleb
Allison went down to Iowa to deliver on a promise he made at
the Kart Expo over the winter. They had showed off the Wii
that the winner would get if he won the Tag 60 race at the
Tag Shootout. Kaleb said, "I'm coming down to your race
to get that Wii". As a first time Cadet racer I don't think
they thought he had a chance. Little did they know he had a Chromoly
chassis made in America on order.
Kaleb
took the pole by seven tenths with his strong Tornado
American steel chassis. He went on to win the heat over all
the Italian karts and one Australian kart made of Chromoly.
He finished ahead of the second place kart by five seconds
and third by 45 seconds!
We
want to thank Recker Racing, PG Racing and all the sponsors for supplying the nice prizes.
It is almost impossible to get a Wii but it really wasn't
that hard because Kaleb has one of the best support teams,
pictured above. That little guy on the left can really
wrench, wait till you see him drive too!
Congratulation Kaleb on the win.

Allison Takes Pole and Wins Route 66 In Tornado Cadet
Our
new Tornado Factory team driver from Mexico Missouri was
ready to challenge any weather forecast at the Route 66
race. He took the pole easily in the Tag 60 class. He was
leading in the heat race when a competitor's battery came
lose and was on the track. The hard charging Kaleb hit it
and was sent flying off the track on one wheel. He ended up
going underneath a motor home but didn't hit it. He started
the engine, drove back out and tried to get back on the
track. He's one tough racer.
He
had to start in the back in the final but still won the
race. Congratulations to Kaleb for winning the first
Regional race of the season up North. Thank you for taking
us to victory lane with you and under the motor home...
Like
a Norman Rockwell painting above Kaleb finish the race all
by himself out front. I think the painting would be named
Promising Future. As the youngest driver in the race in only
his second cadet race, to win a regional race is very promising.
Thanks for taking us to victory lane with you Kaleb.

Son of Danny Edwards Jr., Donovan Edwards Wins
the Opening Season E-Z Dealer Kids Kart Race at Langley Speedway Apr 30, 2008 -
updated Apr 30th, 2008 6:52pm Web posted by Karla watkins
Hampton, Va. --
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: April 30, 2008
Donovan Edwards posted the best time in the 10-lap
qualifying heat race putting him on the pole for the start of the
first race of the season for the E-Z Dealer Kids Kart Race on
Sunday, April 27th.
The light went green and Donovan shot out front to
take the lead. After lapping the field twice, Donovan came across
Victory Lane winning this year’s first 20-lap feature race. After
crossing the finish line, Donovan was presented with the checkered
flag and he took his Victory Lap all the way around the entire track
(just like his Daddy does).
Donovan hails from Poquoson, Virginia and has a long
blood-line of racing in his family. Donovan is the son of Danny
Edwards, Jr. – Four Time Langley Speedway Late Model Track
Champion. At only 7 years old, Donovan has already proven his
passion for racing. Not only was this the first race of the season,
this was the first race Donovan has ever competed in.
Although this is just the start of Donovan’s
racing career, he plans to follow in his Daddy’s footsteps for
bigger things to come.

"it

Tornado Cadet" Michael Schneider
Michael
has been on a tear lately with a two road race wins, a second
and 4th in regional racing action and several podiums at the club
level. He's only 8 years old. We are proud of our Tornado Factory
driver out of Texas. He won a national race on our Tornado Kid Kart
and stuck with our design as he moved up to Cadets. It's looking
like a wise choice as the Cadet young guns are really doing well in
their freshman year in Cadets.
How To Get Sponsors
Braden
needed money for engines, tires, travel fees and a really cool
helmet. How did they do it. First they told people about
Braden's record as a West Coast IKF Regional Champion last year.
Second they asked, and asked and asked. They kept asking. And people
wanted to help. Farmers, local business owners, all kinds of people
pitched in to help the young driver with a passion for the sport.
Braden has the stuff to make it in big time racing, a straight A
student, calm on the track, with a passion to win.
Now Braden's
already won the first race in the older class. What did they do
after that? Got the story written up and submitted to the local
papers. Sports writers will often go to lunch early with buddies if
a story is written for them with pictures. They have a tough job and
need news to print each day. Give it to them all written up and
watch how often it gets in. Be persistent, just keep writing the
stories and sending the pictures.
We want to thank
them for thanking us in the article. We are so happy to have Braden
back as one of our factory drivers this year again.
P.S. That's a typo.
It's $3.70 a gallon in Missouri too now.
Remember that if
you get sponsors for you kart racing you can treat the racing as a
business and write off the loss as a business expense. That way your
personal taxes will be less. You can't show a loss every year but
each time you start a business it usually loses money for the first
year or two. Karting can be a big investment so make sure to check
with your accountant to see if it is worthwhile to treat it as a
business and get some tax money back from Uncle Sam - he likes
racing too. Believe me he loves racing, look at how much tax is paid
by the NASCAR drivers, owners and stadium owners.
Europe
Wants To Be Faster - Get Those Drivers!
Multiple
manufacturers want one of our young Tornado Factory drivers
on their team. When he won a big international race only two
weeks legal to race in the series, manufacturers took
notice. These manufactures have been rumored to have
purchased and attempted to copy our design. The rumors are
that our driver has been offered big tents and multiple free
chassis and engines from at least two different European
kart makers.
The
problem with producing thousands of the same exact kart is
that if someone in America has a better design and
starts beating your much older seasoned drivers with the
youngest drivers in the field... you're stuck with hundreds
of thousands of dollars of inventory that is slower than the
competition. Ouch,... alarms are going off in the marketing
departments in Europe. This wasn't bad when the little
American company didn't advertise but now they are talking
and backing it up on the track. "get those drivers to
switch, offer free engines and chassis whatever it
takes" was probably the command.
With
the price of the Euro so high you have the added
problem that second place or third place chassis'
gathering dust are now more expensive than the fastest
chassis. What do you do if you own this mess?
You
buy out the drivers winning on the other chassis and try to
stop customers from finding out that your design is dated
and your mild steel sags after a few races. We love our
driver and his family and hope that we get to keep him
as our driver but this sort of thing is part of the racing
world. It's not the first or the last time our top drivers
have or will be recruited.
As
one Tornado Factory driver's crew chief put it, "We've
had the offers too. You helped get us here and we aren't
going to forget that. it is kind of silly that the
kart manufacturer we just beat now wants us to trade in our
fastest kart for their slower one for free. You worked hard
to bring us the championship and we aren't going to forget
it."
So
to our European competitors we say - thanks for trying to
copy our design. It tells the world that you are trying to
catch up, that you didn't mind building an inferior product
until someone started to advertise their record. Please give us a call and we'll give you all our top drivers
names and numbers. That way you can give away twenty more
chassis and engines. For the rest of the racing public we'll
develop a rental program so you can rent our kart, win and
then get a free European kart too. Of course maybe that
won't keep going forever because those European karts are
really getting pricey. Or maybe the genie is out of the
bottle and all the drivers won't switch and one or two will
remain. :-)
HANNAH Williams WINS Regional!!
Mike 2nd Cole Third!!!
Hannah
Willams ran away with the show in Texas as she started on the front
row and walked away with the heat and final. She was so far ahead in
the final that she had time to recover after getting caught up with
a lapped kart. She ran off into the grass with one lap left, came to
a halt and got the kart going again and still won it! She had an
amazing day. Cole Glasson joined her on the front row for the final
as the only two Tornado Cadet chassis' in the race were both on the
front row. Cole would get caught on the outside in the start and
hold onto the third place position through the race to give us a 1,
3 finish in the large regional field.
Michael Schneider finish
second in the MiniMax race pushing the much older leader around the
track. Congratulations to our three Tornado Cadet Factory drivers
for making us look so good and taking us to victory lane with you.
St. George and Tachovsky Finish
One Two at IKF R11
Chloe
St. George and Jerett Tachovsky traveled long distances to get
to the Redding California race track in the shadows of the
Shasta Mountain range. Jerent qualified 4th and Chloe took the
pole by almost a full second on the short track. Chloe was running
the new 2009 Tornado Prototype for the first time. "It
was hooked up and so smooth" said one of the competitors after
the race. She was just so smooth that she couldn't be touched all
weekend. Only Jerett had anything for her. He got along side of her
in the start but hit the brakes and let here go by so they wouldn't
tangle. After that Chloe slowly walked away and so did Jerett. We
took two drivers and got the top two podium positions. That
gives as the top two positions in points now for Region11. Thanks
for taking us to victory lane with you.
Royal
McKee Takes
2 Gatorz Race of the Americas Wins!!!
Ranny just finished a hard
tear down in tech, all the way to the crankshaft on a sealed Rotax
MiniMax. "This guy smoked everyone so much all weekend we had
to tear him down" explained someone in tech. Royal called to
tell me he had won again today. It was easy after we made those
changes to the tires and jetting, I could stay out front and take it
easy to hold on to the lead. By half way I knew I had it won. The
kart handled perfect, thank you", Thank you Royal. Few would
have predicted the youngest driver in the field on a new American
made Chromoly chassis would sweep qualifying and all the races, but
Royal did it. He is just an amazingly gifted driver and the home
field advantage plus the chassis was too much for the visiting
drivers.

We struggled with jetting all day but
finally got it figured out or at least close enough. Jeff in Texas helped all
day again and we strategized on a three way call to make the best guess we
could. What needle to run, what jet, would the air density change, how fast off
the corners did we need to be... Royal ran his fastest times of the
weekend on the last race with overcast skies. All weekend the chassis ran its
fastest laps as it's last laps so the rumors that Chromoly tightens up did not
come true with this new design. Certainly the horsepower of a 125cc Rotax
Minimax put the endurance of the chassis to the test. All around we couldn't
have asked for a better outcome and better shake down test of the Tornado Cadet.
We've always said Royal could drive a wooden kart to the front. He's just
amazing. Thanks Royal for taking us to victory lane with you again!

Takes Pole, Wins Gatorz Challenge of the Americas!!
Royal
ran down the leaders from yesterdays Gatorz Challenge of the
Ameriacs race and set fast time early once he got in the
clear. Once Royal took the lead in the qualifier he pulled
off the track to rest his tires for the heat and final. The
2009 Tornado Cadet Prototype seems to be working very well
at the Xplex today! 51.02 was fast time for Royal 51.5 was
second fastest time for the points leader Mike Davis.
"I
think we could have been in the 49's had we left Royal out,
he was dropping 2 tenths a lap but we wanted to save
the tires and not show others the best line around the
track." Ranny McKee
Royal
went on to win the heat and final in convincing fashion.
He'll try again tomorrow. Thanks for taking us to victory
lane with you. I guess the changes to the new 2009 Tornado
design worked.
Royal
McKee Races Xplex - Fastest kart all day today
Royal
will race the Gatorz Cup race at Xplex this weekend with his
new Tornado Cadet. He won at the club race on his first time
out with the new Tornado Cadet and the MiniMax, now he's got
to race a tougher bunch. It's his home turf though so the
boys can expect a fight from him. He's still learning to set
up the MiniMax.
Royal
was a second faster than anyone in the first practice on
Friday! He continued to set the pace all day and was allowed
to run the qualifying session for the Friday race. He was
fast kart during that session. He ran down the days winner
Mike Davis of the Birel team and will hopefully do equally
well on Saturday as he will qualify again for the Saturday
race. Ranny McKee continues to learn what the kart likes and
what Royal wants with the help of the Texas Tornado Factory
drivers. Thank you to Jeff Schneider and Tim Glasson for set
up tips that helped Royal and Ranny dial in the 2009 Tornado
chassis. It looks like the changes we made are working
well.
We
all have our fingers crossed for Royal as he attempts to be
the highest finisher and the youngest finisher at the same
time on a new Tornado prototype chassis. He's an amazing
driver and we are proud to have him as part of our Factory
Tornado Team.
Michael
Schneider and Cole Glasson Win Road Race At Motorsport Ranch In
Cresson Texas
Gazelles and MiniMax's
were allowed to run the road race for the first time at the
Motorsport Ranch in Texas and our two Tornado Team Factory drivers
took top honors in the opening race of the season.
"The
chassis was hooked up and Michael didn't have to lift anywhere
around the track" explained Jeff Schneider.
Michael had the negative
lead off the battery come off three times and each time he reached
down and put it back on to stay in the race and win. Michael drafted
with Cole Glasson for part of the race and may have helped Cole into
victory lane. It was nice to see the Tornado Cadets both win in
their first road racing contest. Congratulations to Michael and
Cole, thanks for taking us to victory lane with you!
5 Year
Old Takes Pole in 2009 Prototype Tornado at IKF R11
Jerett Tachovsky has had his new prototype Tornado Storm Edition for
only a month or so. He decided to change plans to race at Santa
Maria and come take a shot at the big time regional racing of Region
11. He received his new kart and put it on the track for the first
time at the R7 opener. He's one of the most gifted drivers we have
seen in a long time. When he came down the sweeper at Davis and
entered the hairpin in a controlled drift I was impressed. When he
came around again and attempted a pass at the same time when the
door opened with a mistake from the kart in front I was in awe.
Most kids would lock it up and try to avoid the kart, but he steered
around it and tried to stick it in for a pass.
Jarett practiced on Friday and had much of the track handled. The
only thing left was the reducing radius turn one at the end of the
front stretch. We explained that most kids take months to get that
corner down and hold it wide open. He explained that it was a
challenge he wanted to master. Before he went out I explained that
the kart would handle better if he stayed full on the gas and didn't
lift in the reducing radius. The kart would hold him if he drove
steady. He looked at me with a long gaze deep into my eyes. Neither
of us blinked and we both knew it was possible. I felt like telling
him that we had a set of specially matched tires like Harry Hog did
in Days of Thunder, but then I'd be telling a lie and he'd know it.
Jerett decided to trust in the advice.
Jerett talked it over with his Dad before he went out for the
green, white, checkered. They agreed that if it felt good to go for
it on the final lap and if the kart spun then they'd accept their
first lap time. Jerett did it and held it down, showing the poise of
a seven year old with months of practice on the track. As I
announced the race from the booth Jerett's name popped to the top of
the list of qualifiers on the computer. I looked up and the
checkered was flying. Jerett would hold on to the pole position in
an upset of momentous proportions. My voice must have cracked with
pride when I figured out that Jerett had placed his trust in the
chassis to hold him and floored it through the corner.
It was a pleasure tuning for Jerett. Rob had ordered a new top
end carb from us. We bolted it on and dropped two seconds a lap on
Friday. Sorting of carbs does make a difference. We want to thank
Rob, Tracie and the whole Tachovsky for great wine, food and
hospitality. We also want to thank Dan Weaver for offering us a
place to warm up and eat dinner. It was a great weekend. We are
looking forward to watching The Javelin (Jerett) slice through the
wind again soon.
Royal
McKee Wins At Las Vegas Motor speedway In Proto Cadet with A MiniMax
Engine!!!
Royal
had a great first outing at IKF regional racing but it wasn't an
engine his team owned or knew and it was his first weekend with the
new 2009 Chromoly mix Tornado prototype. Ranny McKee called and told
us they had bolted on the MiniMax sealed engine that Royal was
familiar with and went to practice. "We were so fast and Royal
loved the chassis, we were a second quicker in testing today"
explained Ranny. We had high hopes for Royal in the Sunday race but
rain was forecast. In the morning it was snowing at Royal's home but
Eddie Fiorre was at the track and said it was clear so the McKee's
loaded up their new Tornado and headed to the track.
Royal took to the track and
quickly set the pace, taking the pole. In the heat he opened up a
gap on the field of ten karts within a lap. Regular top drivers
pushed very hard to stay with Royal and his Tornado, but it wasn't
to be. Royal was over one second a lap faster than anyone else.
Royal called us after the final and said "I won, the kart felt
so good, it was so easy out there to drive really fast". At the
time I was announcing the race for R11 so I couldn't talk but we
were so pleased to see the changes to the cadet worked so well for
Royal. Another competitor commented that Royal can drive
anything and make it look fast. We agree he's one of the most gifted
drivers in the country and it is great to get his feedback and see
him do so well so early as other young drivers have (see story on
Michael Schnieder) with our Tornado Cadet.
Royal had been recruited by
another manufacturer at a recent race. They showed him a big tent
and engine helpers. Royal and I made a deal that if he won the next
two races we'd get a tent. If he keeps winning more and more people
will leave the tent of the expensive European chassis makers for the
faster Chromoly American made steel produced by the Tornado Kart
Organization.
Glasson Wins
Tag, Schneider Second in Minimax on Tornado Cadets
Michael
Schneider bolted on his new MiniMax Rotax engine for the first time
this weekend. He ran it in for an hour or so on his Tornado Cadet.
The MiniMax is a very powerful 125cc engine that is restricted on
the top end power. It puts out tremendous torque and our Chromoly
Chassis is built to handle the power and give the driver responsive
control. Michael was the youngest driver in the field and almost
took the pole, missing by .1 of a second because the driver ahead of
him spun and Michael had to lift. In the race Michael tucked in
behind the pole sitter and pushed him the whole race. In Michael's
first race with all that power he did a great job of holding the
kart in a safe position and finishing in second against a field of
experienced drivers. Jeff called and said "this chassis loves
all this power. It handled so well and Michael loved it. Had the
kart not spun ahead of us in the last lap of qualifying we would
have taken the pole and probably won the race. On the podium the
winner was a kid two feet taller than Michael. We are doing so well
so early". We hope to have pictures and a video of the race
coming soon.
Cole
Glasson won the heat and the main in his Tornado Cadet at the club
race with his Gazelle. Cole raced a S-1 Nevoso of a more experienced
driver and won. Cole still has three four more months before he
turns 8. Again we are please to see these young drivers making our
chassis and engine packages look so good so quickly. It's a
testament to the testing program and practice schedule of the
parents and drivers. Gunnr Murphy was in second for part of the race
and is improving quickly. Soon he'll have a new engine and hopefully
by this summer he'll be up front challenging his teammates
regularly.
St.
George Wins IKF R11 Opener
Jerett
is only 5 years old but he thought he'd take a shot at the IKF
Region 11 opening race at the Davis California Blue Max Kart Club.
He was driving a new Storm Edition 2009 prototype Tornado. We loaned
him a top engine along with his team mate Brandon Weaver. They
both quickly learned the track and started to sling the karts around
the track. In the morning Jerett was clean and we kept asking him to
keep on the gas through turn 1. In the qualifying run he trusted us
and kept on the gas setting fast time and taking the pole for the
morning stunning the experienced local drivers that had be
practicing the track. The crowd was amazed that a 5 year old that
had never been to Davis took the pole.
Unfortunately
the scales moved a couple pounds from morning practice and Brandon
weaver was a half pound light, he'd have to start in the back at a
tough to pass track. Jerett and Chloe noticed the weight difference
but squeaked by.
In
the heat race the experienced drives slowly moved past Jerett and
Chloe moved to the front row. She had to race Jeremy Kay of Reno,
Jeremy had been fast all Friday in practice. In the final it was
Chloe St. George of the Tornado Factory Drivers team that jumped off
to a great lead. She was caught with three corners to go by another
driver that had built their own engine that would later fail tech.
Michael drove a great race but was assisted in running to the front
by a powerful engine that didn't meet spec. Chloe assumes the points
lead for R11.
Chloe
loaded up quickly for the 8 hour drive to Los Angeles and the
California Speedway. She would test some things for us in the
morning that did not work and had to start tenth on Sunday. She made
it up to 3rd in the final to get her second podium of the month.
Chloe is racing somewhere almost every weekend so her testing is
done on race weekend. This makes it more difficult for her to learn
the track at the limits of the chassis, but she adapts quickly and
gives us good feedback. Congratulations Chloe on your first IKF
regional win. Keep an eye on young Jerett Tachovsky (pronounced
tahavsky) he has real talent and a great touch on the steering
wheel. Thanks for taking us to victory lane with you and making our
engines/chassis look so good.
Cole
Glasson Wows Regional Racers In Texas on Tornado Cadet
Cole
Sets Fast Time, Takes Pole and podiums both days with two engine
packages, Hannah Williams very close
A
seven year old shows up to run a regional race in Texas with drivers
from multiple states. He's never run a cadet on this track before.
It is a small technical track with a 28 second lap time. What
experienced kart racing enthusiast would give him a chance of
qualifying up front or getting on the podium with a chassis made in
America that few have heard of? Maybe if he had a Birel or other big
name Italian kart with factory support he could get mid pack right?
Maybe the guard is changing in the karting world because Cole took
the pole and set fast time as the youngest driver in the field. His
Tornado Factory driver team mate Hannah Williams was very close
behind on lap times.
There were two
races and he would run one engine package on Saturday and another on
Sunday. When he put on his super fast Comer 60 they made Cole load
on 25 extra pounds and he still qualified up front. On Sunday he
loaded on a Tornado Engines Gazelle Tag 60
(www.tornadoengines.com)
and he set fast time taking the pole and stunning onlookers. When
Cole climbed on the podium both days with a second and third overall
in the finals it was evident that he was almost a foot shorter than
the eleven year olds he was racing against, but he's quickly
becoming a big name in the sport.
Hannah got the
track dialed in on the second day running within one tenth of Cole
and finishing a couple spots back. They were the two youngest
drivers in the race.
For those that
whisper in customer's ears that Chromoly chassis' are not capable of
winning or getting on the podium your credibility is slipping. We
make the case that quality Chromoly tubing is faster on the
majority of tracks in America that don't have tons of grip and a 500
kart count. With a simple weight shift we can deal with those tracks
too.
Cole got
freight trained on the start because he's new to the track and
rolling starts. He came from 5th to third. He made an amazing drive
for his age and it was probably helped by a stable chassis that is
not sagging and changing underneath him as he learns and grows.
Congratulations Cole and Hannah, thanks for making us look so good.
Your hard work is paying off!

Chloe St. George Gets Third At Buffalo Bills, Cruz Takes Pole,
Finishes Strong Strengthen Points Lead for R7, Hanson Gets Pole,
Takes 2nd on Sunday
We
want to congratulate Chris Trickle and Zach Aurthor on their wins
this weekend at Buffalo Bills. The track has always been a confusing
track for young drivers because of the hay bails and no lines or
paint to follow. These two topped all others. In the heat races both
days Tornados won and took the pole for the final with Cruz Fiore
and Conner Hanson at the helm. Cruz ran a great race to move from
4th to win the heat but the start in the final did not go well and
his engine may have faded with an incorrect jet choice. Chloe got
the right jet and made he way up several spots to pass Cruz and get
to third. She finished higher than any other female has in the
history of competitive Kid Karting in R7. She was recovering from
the flu and was fairly sick. When asked how she felt before the
final she said "my tummy doesn't feel good". I told he she'd feel
okay once on the track and she did, driving great lines and picking
up time each lap. Conner Hanson drove great and won the final on his
Tornado but the engine supplied by Pitts failed tech and he lost his
chance to share the points lead with our Factory Driver Cruz. Cruz
extends his points lead as the Miami driver took a DQ in the morning
and was behind all day.
RJ Stearns had another strong run finishing second of Hanson's
engine failed tech. Chris Trickle spun out and finished 11th after
tangling with a hard charging Chloe. The second day was a much lower
attendance as it is a newly added class of 160 lbs. Qualifying
mistakes left our team in the back trying to get to the front. Logan
Mitchell was successfully moving his Tornado up and was in 5th when
Buitrago of Miami hit him. Logan recovered and kept going. Buitrago
then hit him again and drove him off the track. Officials must not
have seen or Buitrago should have been given a finishing order
behind the driver he pushed off, because he had been warned in the
morning. Sunday did not go well for Chloe as she and Cruz got
together on the start and she was out. Cruz ran as fast a time as
Chris Trickle but was stuck in the back in a track with few places
to pass. Chris wins his first IKF race and we are so proud of him,
after spending thousands of hours working with Chris and Chuck over
the last two years we really were happy to see Chris win. He is
simply a gifted driver that will go far.
Dillon Schwanbeck did a great job. He was breaking in a new
chassis and when Paul got the settings the way Dillon wanted it then
he started matching the leaders times and actually finished ahead of
Cruz on Sunday. We look for good things out of Dillon this season
after watching him pick up the track and stick to it. He did very
well on a difficult track while trying to adjust to a new chassis.
The new advertisements
highlight what few tell you about the high priced European karts.
The mild steel is cheaper and the karts have been cheaper than US
made karts. So why do we call them high priced? The Europeans have
claimed that Chromoly can't run up front and is more expensive.
Well, when you factor in a chassis change every seven months or
every six races the mild steel chassis is way more of costly choice.
With the Euro against the dollar changing hourly the European karts
are getting to be almost twice as much as a quality American made
chassis. We challenge you to ask any driver that won a big race on a
mild steel chassis if he was still using that same exact kart at a
big race six months or a year later.
Our Chromoly Tornado chassis
proved that they can win and win decisively over the last seven
years in Kid Karts and now Cadets. As soon as we get some older
Cadet drivers and adult drivers running the bigger Chromoly Tornado
Chassis you'll see that Chrome is the best way to get a leg up on
the competition, or four legs up on them. Your chassis will lay down
fast times, not just lay down and sag after a few fast races with
the memory of the mild steel. Chromoly is more springy and a
different kart to drive, but once you've mastered it you can spring
out of the corners and onto the straights.
What do you think of the ads?
Too racey, too direct, too Terminatorish with the chrome women's
legs?
Royal Likes The New 2009 Prototype
Cadet!
Royal
McKee, the youngest ever IKF Grand National Champion tested the 2009
Prototype Tornado Cadet Saturday and Sunday for the first time. With
help from Eddie Fiore and Neil McCoy they got the chassis put
together and put it on the track at the Xplex. Royal was rivaling
the best times from the last race held at Xplex on his second day
on the track with the chassis. Now he'll head to Buffalo Bills to
try his first Cadet race in IKF R7. Thanks for the feedback Royal
and Ranny. We'll see you in four days!
Last year Royal won the
Buffalo Bills race for us in the Kid Kart Class. He's one tough
driver but he'll finish in the bottom third of the field if he
follows other great kid karters that have gone before him into the
gauntlet that is IKF R7 Cadet racing. The best racers in the country
are ready with good tuners and coaches. It will likely take 18
months for this talented driver to pick up new techniques and get to
the front.
Owen
Leatherberry Races Outlaw WKA Man Cup at Lowe's Motor Speedway
1st, 2nd 1st on
Saturday and 2nd, 2nd, 2nd Sunday - Starting From The Back Each
Race! With No Tape On The Engine...
March 3rd
We put a call in to see
how Owen did at Lowe's Motor Speedway. "We had a great time and made
a bunch of new friends" said Greg Leatherberry. "We ended up
starting Owen in the back each heat to get some practice passing
karts since they didn't treat this as a real race. There was not
going to be any tech but we wanted to run legal. Other drivers were
taping off but the two drivers from the Midwest did not tape off and
stuck to the rules. Owen got a 1st, 2nd and 1st in the first day and
then all three 2nd place finishes on Sunday. He did not tape off and
could have gone about 5 seconds quicker a lap had he chosen to
ignore the rules. "We were really fast in the corners and jetted
fatter than most because the track was so curvy". People kept coming
over and asking what chassis we were running and why we were so fast
in the corners. "I just sat the kart on the ground and showed them
how it lifted the inside rear tire while sitting still and they
could see why it worked so well when the tire doesn't act like a
brake." The turnout wasn't great and was less than half of what it
was at Daytona. WKA will see that without rules people don't want to
show up and pay for an exhibition of illegal engines. People want a
level playing field like IKF has out West where the kart count stays
strong and the racing is very close.
March 1, 2008
On
the midnight drive to deliver a secret 2009 Cadet chassis in the
desert we received a call. "We're in Charlotte and the barometric
pressure is 30.41 what's our jet?" We knew at once it was a Tornado
factory driver calling because they know what to think about and
look for to tune. "Wow, that's fat, fat air, what air cleaner are
they running" we asked. WKA is treating Kid Karts as a preschool
class with a warm milk lunch break and a knap at 2pm but many racers
aren't. IKF has serious racing on the West coast for the 5 to 8 year
olds and big Don St. Ours just doubled the program with a second
competitive Kid Kart Class. They gave up calling them baby karts out
here a long time ago. Owen is from the freezing North of Wisconsin
and will do his best to make it a fun experience even if the race
directors announce "no tech" before the weekend starts as they did
at Daytona, turning it into a drag racing, open engine class for
those Florida teams that love to bend the rules. It will be a great
experience racing in the famed Lowe's Motorspeedway.
Owen and Greg toured
several NASCAR Sprint Cup shops and Owen got a full collection of
lug nuts to take home. Let's hope he has a great experience racing
in the heart of NASCAR country, where anything goes. Maybe for fun
we should show up for one of these outlaw WKA races and run faster
than the Cadets to show what can be done with a C50. Our record is
58 miles per hour in Mexico with a bore and stroke rule. 6.6
horsepower was what that engine produced but it could have done 2 hp
more if we had changed the crank. That will put us at about 8 and a
half HP and with the weight advantage enough to challenge the Cadet
times with a great driver behind the wheel. I'm sure that whomever
insures the WKA events will then take notice and think twice about
what is going on. Of course they won't pay out if there is an
accident now because the evidence is clear that the rulebook is not
being followed when everyone is told their will be no tech at a
public meeting. No insurance company will pay a claim when the rules
they signed off on are not being followed and drivers are going 20
to 50 percent faster than expected. We hope that the changes
sweeping WKA will eventually get down to their entry level class and
they will follow the successful lead of IKF. Competitive kid kart
racing grows when you level the playing field on engines and include
heavy tech. More racers show and it is a fair battle.
Winning Before
He Was Born - Meet Dalton Adkins
Dalton's
parents met at the race track and are both racers. His Mom was still
racing and won the last race before she knew she was pregnant with
Dalton, so Dalton was actually winning before he was born. In case
you don't believe that starting early worked for Tiger Woods or boys
like Dalton get this... Dalton won his first ever sprint kart race
in our kart. After we shipped the kart we got a surprise phone call
while in Colorado tuning for Buddy Lazier's son, "we won this
weekend" said Robert Adkins. I tried to remember whom I was talking
with and thought it was a new driver from the East Coast, it was,
but that's not normally the outcome of someone on the kart track for
the first time. While it was Dalton's first sprint track race it
wasn't his first ever time racing a vehicle.
Dalton
won his first race at 3 on an ATV, he's raced on dirt ovals and
asphalt ovals. You can read more about our new East coast Tornado
Factory Driver on the factory driver's page. Great looking kart
Dalton! Welcome to the team
You GO GIRL!!! -
Ladies Take Both Driver Of The Month Honors
For the first time we
have two driver of the month award winners that are both young lady
drivers. We are proud to have both as Factory Drivers for the
Tornado Team. Read about their successes at the bottom of this page
and watch them show the boys how it is done all this season.
Glasson Wins Heat
and Almost wins Final, Schneider Third
The
Texas race was close. Cole missed the pole by 7/100ths of a second.
In the heat he took the lead and held it against an 11 year old, 4
years older and more experienced than him. In the final he again
took the lead but lost it with a few laps to go. He was able to stay
very close but could not get back around for the win.
Michael
Schneider was close behind in third running a Mini Swift for the
first time. It was getting better and better but just wasn't broke
in enough to get us past the two Comer 60's" stated Jeff. "There is
little doubt down here that the Tornado Cadet is doing it's job as
we are breaking track records with some young drivers". Hannah had
qualified 4th, the highest Gazelle qualifier, but the carb clogged
and stumbled in the heat and had to start all the way at the back.
For a while we were looking at taking 3 of the top 5 podium spots
with Tornado Drivers. Just looking at Michael's and Cole's numbers,
1 2 and 2... how much longer before we get a 1, 2 finish out of
these talented drivers. They tell me that Hannah has the fast engine
and is going to catch them soon so maybe it will be ladies first and
a one two three finish! Gunr's had a new engine in the super secret
shop for testing for a month now.
"Things are starting to turn around here in
Texas. Hannah is getting better and I think that we are finally
starting to get a handle on what the chassis likes as far as weight
is concerned. Hannah was the fastest qualifier with a Gazelle motor
in the last race.
Everybody
that beat her were running the comer or swift motors." Chris
Williams said. Hannah has been working through transition from Kid
Karts to cadets and Chris has focused hard on changes to the massive
amount of weight needed to get the kart to the minimum.
Hannah's
engine stumbled in the last race but recovered as dirt probably came
through the carb. She ran strong on the engine we blueprinted for
her. It bested the engine built by the engine shop that had the
winning engine at the Tag USA championships. We also bested the
Nevoso S1 chassis in the field. All in all we are very pleased with
success of our Texas team at such an early stage of driver
development and crew chief development. Changing to Cadets is a big
transition for everyone. Our research phase on the engines kicks in
this week and next as we test on the dyno and get ready to deliver
several engines to customers across the US.
Tornado Kid Kart
Prototype Testing Going Very Well
A
Customer called and said we hadn't talked about the prototype much
lately - was it still fast? Yes it is. Here is a peak at the
testing. We tested two prototypes Tornado Kid Karts at Apex on
Friday. Cruz took out number 1.1 and liked it so he ran it the next
day to win the CalSpeed opener for IKF R7 (read story below). The
Tachovsky's were kind enough to let us test their new prototype 2.1
on Friday. Version 3.1 is pictured below and is going to the driver
that finished in the top 5 last year at the Kid Kart Nationals, he's
also got one of Braden Johnson's engines and he'll be a contender
for the National championships this year. I believe this version
will be the fastest one.
Chloe
took it out and we had a brand new set of tires on the front and a
used set on the back. It took two laps to get the tires equalized a
bit and then she started putting the lead to it. She started
dropping a second a lap and she looked so smooth when she came
through the corners at night with a cold track. It was probably only
40 degrees outside. She came in and said it was loose. That's what
we wanted to hear and she went back out and continued to get faster
but didn't spin out. She has developed a great touch for our karts.
Keith walked away stating that they might just need to upgrade to
the new prototype soon. We are now sure that the prototypes have
proven themselves fast after besting the field at California
Speedway and getting positive feedback from our drivers. I asked
Jerett how he liked the kart and he gave me a big thumbs up. We will
most likely switch production over early next month to the new
design as you can't ask much more than a IKF R7 win from a new
chassis. it should only get quicker as we learn to tune it.
A disclaimer: You can't always
believe what you hear at the track or here. That might be a doctored
photo of our kart, the RPM's may have been more like 12,250 on
practice day instead of 11,600, etc... What you can believe is that
Cruz did take the chassis pictured above to the winner's circle
against some really good teams backed by big kart shops and
manufacturers, and he did it with an engine that cost him less than
$1000. When you have a good handling chassis you don't always need
to bolt on your best engine. You don't always need to purchase our
top of the line engines to win.
Midnight FireWorks For Royal
McKee
When Royal hits the
tracks there is usually a celebration following and he's as amazing
as a fourth of July night display. Royal McKee won the IKF Sprint
Grand National last year for us. He's the youngest ever winner in
IKF's history. Now he's ready to race Cadets. He's been practicing
and next week we'll send him this new 2009 Prototype Cadet chassis
to test. If he likes it and they can dial it in he'll run it at an
upcoming IKF race. We gave Royal a special paint scheme called
midnight fireworks. The chassis is black but it looks purple with a
flash picture. Black in overcast skies but sparkles come out when
the sun or a flash bulb hits it. this chassis is Las Vegas classy.
We were in Vegas for the New Year's celebration and we wanted Royal
to hit the track in style in something that looks as good as he
drives.
Thanks again for all
your faith and trust in us Royal, Trish, Ranny and Tanner. We'll
keep working until we make you a contender again for the Duffy. The
fuse has been lit, the changes made to soften the kart just right in
the mid section, soon it will be time to sit back and enjoy the
Royal Midnight Fireworks show.
Rookie Tornado
Full Size Kart Scales Out Perfect - Will Ship Next Week!!
Our first full size kart hit the
scales perfectly with a left to right on the money. With a beautiful
40mm axle and all red running gear this baby is ready for Kaleb
Allison and Keith to work their magic. As soon as it finishes it's
fashion shoot next week it will be boxed and shipped off to Kaleb in
the Midwest. This chassis will appear in the first video commercial
for the new Tornado Kart line of chassis. Kaleb and most of the
midwest factory drivers are at the Ekmi Karting show this weekend.
We wanted to attend and show all our
new chassis but we were just too loaded down with orders after the
most successful year in our history. This year we'll show that the
fastest karts made in America can be improved for driver comfort.
The combination of different steels and size tubing can add to the
drivability of a durable chassis. Feedback has been positive across
the board so far and we hope to extend our winning ways to the Cadet
and full size kart this year.
The Rookie is available in Tornado F1
entry level for $2875 for a limited time and the F4 for $3375 with a
40mm axle and floating sprocket. Built of quality Chromoly Tubing
this chassis will lift the inside rear and keep those RPM's up while
cornering. Thank you Kaleb for being our flagship test driver.
Tornado Engines is building a couple Tag 60 engines for the new
Allison Cadet kart and we are looking for a really fast Yamaha for
this kart right now.
IKF R7 - Cruz Fiore
Wins At California Speedway Opener!!
3 Tornados on the
Podium, Mitchell and Hanson Take 4th and 5th As The 2009 Prototype
Tornado Wins It's First Race. Wow!!
It
was the start of the most coveted series in the world for Kid Kart
racers, the International Kart Federation's Region 7 Southwestern
Super Series at the California Speedway in Fontana outside Los
Angeles. Competitors from East to West coast were in attendance.
Cruz Fiore put his trust in the Tornado engineers and took a new
2009 Tornado prototype chassis version 1.1 out for the first time in
a race and had a great result. Last year we had a prototype in the
field and it took 6th, the driver Braden Johnson went on to win the
championship. "It was perfect", said Cruz after the race. Eddie and
Anthony put the chassis together just the day before the IKF race
and shook it down at Apex in the afternoon. "This was our weakest
track and we are very pleased to win our first IKF R7 race here at
the California Speedway". The Las Vegas native had not made the club
race two weeks earlier because of the Las Vegas Kart Club banquet
and had not raced this configuration in over a year. Cruz was fast
all day timing in on the front row and winning the final. Chloe St.
George set fast time on her Tornado in the heat and let the boys
know they could not count her out this season, but got caught up in
the big crash in turn two in the final. Logan Mitchell finishes 4th
after starting in the back and Conner Hanson finishes 5th as the
only in state local driver in the top 5, making it a three Tornado
sweep of the top 5. Again, chromoly tubing chassis' dominated the
top positions.
Logan Mitchell was our standout in the
final. He had a crew chief that had forgotten to get painted after
qualifying and had to start the heat in the back. He made it up to
10th after the DQ of the heat winner he would start the final in
9th. In the final he got the hole shot and slid through the field
moving up 5 spots hitting turn two at full speed. Unfortunately a
kart ahead of him slowed and he touched his bumper while trying to
tuck underneath and avoid the slowing kart. In IKF racing you can't
lift or you'll get hit from behind. The ensuing wreck took out
several top competitors including Chloe St. George, Sebastian
Elizondo and Jacob Drew. Logan steered into the slide and saved it
to tuck into 6th. He then worked the pack and made it up to 4th. The
5th place finisher failed in tech and Conner Hanson then moved his
Tornado into a 5th place podium finish. Conner was in third at one
point of the final and drove a great race. While the tech officials
reviewed the unmarked engine closely of the Florida entry that has
taken technical DQ's all over the country they ended up allowing him
to pass but did not cc or take the head or clutch off - many
listening felt this entry was illegal by watching and listening to
it.
Several drivers showed themselves to be
practiced and ready including Sebastian Elizondo, RJ Stearns and
Jacob Drew. Sebastian was involved in a wreck in the heat when he
and Chris
Trickle
got together in turn 5. Drew was driven off the track in the heat
race and did not finish the final race as he was caught up in the
wreck. They'll use this race as their drop and be back up front
again. Stearns had issues in tech and was sent to the back of the
field. Eyes were on former Tornado driver Chris Trickle as many
expected a win from him after his fast times at the prior club race.
Chris had full free factory support of a local kart shop and Italian
kart maker. Chris' times were off three seconds a lap from the
times he turned in the club race and two seconds off from the year
before when he had set fast time for us on a Tornado at the season
opener. Chloe's time's were off a second from the club race so the
track was obviously slower. Chris was in tenth at the time of the
wreck and came out 4th so it really helped him get to the podium.
Why the other drivers were so much slower on IKF race weekend than
at the club race is a mystery. In Chloe's case she had a brand new
engine at the club race that was too tight to win, it was much
looser for the IKF race and was very fast as we found something that
was slowing here down ever as she set fast time. She had a real
chance to win this race but in the final it didn't matter as she was
driven hard into the turn 2 barriers by the wrecked karts. Cruz
Fiore drove a flawless day. A test on our part probably cost him the
pole but he recovered nicely in the heat and the engine was mostly
back in the final. The engine named Killer Queen sounded almost back
to full health in the final and bested the field.
We are so please with our Tornado
drivers. With the stiff competition and the gamble on a new chassis
design with almost no testing we had anticipated having only one
driver on the podium. To have three drivers up there was a great
victory. Congratulations to Mason Mitchell and Jerett Tachovsky as
they finished mid pack, pretty good for 5 and 6 year olds in their
first big IKF R7 race. We believe had Chloe made it through turn 2
she would have been right up along side the leaders racing for the
podium. She was in fifth at the time of the wreck and had been .3
seconds faster than Cruz in the heat with her fast new Stealth
engine. We'll see all the great drivers back in four weeks near Las
Vegas for the Buffalo Bill's race where no one will have the
advantage of track time and practice. Luck will play a part again, a
wreck will almost for certain cripple someone's run for the
championship and there will probably be a DQ for something. That's
racing and if you navigate all the issues you can have a chance to
be the champion. Congratulations Cruz, Eddie and Anthony... you
worked hard, put your trust and faith in ComerJet and the Tornado
Team and came away with the win. Thank you for taking us to victory
lane with you!

race. Click here to see the video of the race and a hint of why

2007 Tornado Kid Kart
Year In Review
We don't like to look
back very often but this year deserves a review as it was a year to
remember for the Tornado Kid Kart drivers across the US and Mexico.
We don't think we could repeat such a great season any time soon but
we'll work hard to continue the edge we had on competing chassis and
engine builders. There wasn't enough space to do a review of IKF R7
racing so we'll do that in a separate video soon. Congratulations to
all the drivers that made this season possible. Thank you for taking
us to victory lane with you.
Our Mission
To make racing in the
Kid Kart and Cadet class more fun and fulfilling through education,
research and persistence while keeping it honest and inside the
rules.

Quotes From Around The US and World
"Thanks for all your
help. You are a great engineer and driver coach. Our driver learned
a bunch from you this weekend and so did I."
"When our old chassis
got rubber on the tires from the track it would spin out. The new
2008 Tornado just stick to the track. The only time he ever got
loose on the track was first thing in the morning with all the dust
out from the night before. Even then it was a controlled drift.
Thanks again we love the chassis."
Won a West Coast race in
only 5 time racing and only third race in a Tornado
"I think we have
something here with these new engines. They just jump when they get
a few feet past the exit of the corners. We hit 12,300 rpm today and
the thing is only a few days old." Multiple engine client
"We went to the track
today with the new Tornado, he equaled his best lap ever on the
first time out. We are really happy with it thank you so much"
You are welcome, have fun!
Wait until he get's used to flooring it through the corners!
"Let me give you a big
hug, aww take two hugs. That engine is amazing. Thank you, thank
you, thank you for building that for us"
One really big guy with a
good grip.
"We
broke the track record with the backup engine you rebuilt for us. We
were one second faster. Thank you."
We have been taking back
several old style engines and changing them to make them faster
lately.
"We got second starting
from the back row. The engine ran great through the field and we
passed everyone but the pole sitter."
We rebuilt this engine for
this client and did not review and duplicate the previous builder's
design. We used our latest R&D to make it better. It was .2 hp more
than when it came in on the dyno and 300 rpm more with the peak hp
600 rpm higher on the curve.
"I was not happy with the Mustang engine.
It did not meet my expectations."
New engines take a while
to get seasoned and seated fully. Mustang engines are not selected
for their heads, just built. Some are fast, others are faster. It is
better to purchase a selected engine if you are hoping for peak
performance. The new C51's can also eat rings and need to be worn in
fully and then reringed often. One thing is certain not every engine
will always be the fastest.
To give you some idea how
much faster Michael and the F4 was through the turns, one of the
competitor's father commented "coming off the straightaway, my son
was right behind Michael. I turned to check out a competitor
further back and when I looked back to find my son, Michael had put
so much distance on him through the turns that I thought my boy had
spun out" Absolutely no one could touch Michael and the F4 Tornado
through the turns. It was awesome.
Jeff Schneider - Father of KART National
Champion Kid Kart Winner Michael Schneider
"Thank you so much.
This engine you built us is really super fast and our first win ever
tonight will always be remembered." South
"This engine is so fast
I'm gonna kiss you on the lips next time I see you" South Western
US.
"Our Hornet engine has
been winning every race on the dirt track. The only races we have
taken second in is when we get taken out and have to start from the
back again. One Dad keeps buying engines from other places even
though I told him where I got this engine. I guess he doesn't want
to make the investment in one of yours. He's spent more on those
engines than if he had just purchase a ComerJet"
Buy the best and only cry once
"We are the local
champions at our track in LA but we went to Las Vegas this weekend
and got our hat handed to us by your three Tornado chassis. Build me
one just like theirs."
"We got the chassis and
took 4 seconds off of our best time in a ten day period. It is super
fast in the corners. Just like they said on the website, the inside
rear lifts up even with the driver sitting in it on the grid. It
just really corners well. You gotta get one of these if you want to
be fast."
"My son came off the
track and wouldn't get out of the kart. He was 5 seconds quicker the
first time out. He loves it. He said thanks for getting me this kart
Dad. Wow."
"The
Tornado worked so good on the dirt. He was way quicker than with the
old kart and we just left everyone behind. It is so smooth in the
corners. We won hands down. We are so happy with the early
performance of the kart right out of the box." Ohio
"We
raced today at the XXXXXX Los Angeles club race at XXXX Track. That
old style motor is fast. My son took second in the final. It was
great. In one heat he started last (14th) and worked his
way up to 2nd. In the next heat he was first…way out in
front. I can’t tell you how fun it was for him to be so fast. He is
also driving very well. The Tornado chassis is also showing its
superiority. You are the Guru of Kid Karting!" Los Angeles Client
"The chassis arrived yesterday and we only had time to put a stock
engine on it after testing all day with the old chassis and our
blueprinted engine. The day before we were running 1.16.5 and 1.17.
We dropped 4.5 seconds with your chassis and our slow stock engine.
Our driver is so pleased to be running with the leader. On Sunday he
qualified on .3 of a second off the pole in his first race with the
Tornado F4. Thank you, this chassis is really fast! Build us a
second so we have a spare ready to go in the trailer"
"just wanted to let you know that after
installing the Falcon 50 you sold us, we won just about every race
last year in spite of my driver being 20-30 lbs heavier than the
other guys. His starts were much slower due to the weight but he
could catch and pass everyone on the field." East Coast
"Wow we were testing
the new chassis today and the same engine we had on the old chassis
is now turning 900 more top end RPM. The motor mount and everything
made a big difference in performance". Southern US
The biggest difference that the client is
noticing is how free the chassis is in the corners. It does not bog
the little engine in the apex. Keeping one wheel up going through
the corners allows the engine to start down the straight at higher
RPM's therefore finishing the straight at higher RPM's allowing for
the passes and much faster overall lap times.
"The chassis arrived
and it's the Cadillac of Kid Karts. We have the two karts sitting
next to one another and you can see the detail. Thank you, we are
all so impressed" Western US
"The two chassis you
sent were perfect. The custom paint was really hot and the attention
to detail on all the components is second to none. Thank you for
building us such beautiful karts" Eastern US
"We dropped from a 31
to a 28 second lap time with the videos and won the feature! We are
thrill and can't wait for the Tornado to arrive." Michigan
"We dropped 1.5 seconds on our first time out with your videos and
took a second place. We were thrilled and can't wait for our new
Mustang Engine!" East Coast
"Since we purchased your videos we
have won 26 of 28 weekends on our local dirt tracks. We are thrilled
with the amount of information and that we win legally weekend after
weekend. Thank you." Midwest customer
"The A10 Warthog Dirt Race Engine is amazing.
It hit 15,500 rpm the first day we tried it, wow!"
East coast engine and video customer
"had to drop you a line. the boys did there first race over the
weekend. my oldest son won the feature race starting from the second
row!!!!" ..."I have only applied a small amount of the information
learned but I
can tell that the information will become in invaluable in the long
run."
North East Video Customer
"We won the biggest dirt track race on the
East coast. The little guy was really happy. Thanks for your help."
East Coast multiple engine customer
"We won every race in our country with
your engine on four different tracks, thank you" Spanish speaking
country
"We
purchased your video's and manual before the beginning of this race
season and the difference they have made toward our racing success
is just short of incredible, my son has raced 7 races so far and has
5 feature wins (in a row), ... a second and third based on driver
options. I will definitely recommend your products to other kid
kart racers (as soon as we move up a class!).
"We
were very pleased to move from last to first after receiving the
basic tips information. We won all three races and had a 3/4 of a
lap lead on the final. Thank you very much!"
Midwest running a C51
"Got
the DVD today. You've clearly put a lot of time into this project,
and it shows. I only wish I had ordered the video earlier, to
soften up the learning curve." East
Coast
"This
engine is really fast, he went from 9th to 2nd in his first race
with it and he's only five and is still learning to drive. Are you
sure this engine is legal? We are extremely pleased." - Yes it
is legal, the head on that motor was a very gifted casting. Wait
until the break in is complete. :-) South
"My son and I are very
impressed!" South -
Speaking about their new Tornado Chassis
"We
took third in our first race. Only two 7 year olds beat our five
year old and we are just getting started with the tips. Thank you so
much for all the information it really is helping us." East
Central
"We
were 2 seconds faster the first time out after the videos showed up.
Thank you so much, we can't wait to buy the advanced video and get
an engine". West Coast
"I
build motors for a NASCAR team and the video helped me confirm
things I thought would work to help this motor run faster." East
Coast
"It's
over modulated and you should have used a tripod" - He's right,
we wish we had a studio and HDTV editing. Our goal was to get the
information to you, not spend $100,000 and produce a movie. South
Drivers of the Month for
March - You Go Girl!!
Kid Kart Pro Driver Chloe St.
George
Chloe
St. George is a tough young driver that has been working her way up
the paddock all last year. She set fast time in the heat race at the
IKF R7 opener and could have won in the final. She went on to get a
1st and 3rd in the same weekend at Apex and LAKC in February. She is
a regular tester of engines and chassis. She upgrade to a new
chassis soon for the IKF race and will continue to dial in top
engines for us. Keith St. George is a former stock car crew member
and has a keen eye for what's happening on the track. The two make a
great team and we expect a big win out of Chloe very soon. She's the
first of our all girl Diver of the Month award.
Rookie Cadet Driver of
the Month -
Hannah Williams!
Hannah
has been working hard over the winter to catch up to Cole Glasson
and Michael Schneider. Both received their karts ahead of Hannah and
were in testing a bit earlier. Last week she pushed the boys hard in
her Tornado Cadet in the Texas Money race. She was the fastest
Gazelle in the field with one of our Tornado Engine Gazelles. She
has already podiumed in here Cadet and was really close to getting a
third or forth at the last race.
We look forward to
meeting this phenomenally gifted driver soon!
