Tornado Lightning - A Tradition of Winning Lights Up Tracks
The
2009 Tornado Lightning is a full size adult chassis design made of Chromoly
tubing and mild steel with adjustable caster and camber.
The chassis was built to meet the specifications of the adult
classes running Tag, Rotax or shifter engines. Built to last more than a few races, the Tornado chassis
line is the American made chassis choice for those interested in
racing for years with a chassis that is stable and won't sag. The
biggest key is that our chassis is made of stronger, higher quality
Chromoly
steel and lifts the inside rear wheel in the corners much earlier
than Italian made mild steel to allow the kart to run smoothly
through the corner and not bog the engine. This plays a big part in
keeping the engine RPM's up through the corners and higher down the
straight. If you can keep the engine cool longer then you can
produce more horsepower at the end of the race. Our kart designs and
integrated with what we find in our engine department. Integrating
engine horsepower finds with chassis design is our strength.
Innovations in engine mounting, harmonics, alignment have lead us to
increases in power, reduction in heat and overall speed at the track
on race weekend.
The Tornado Lightning includes lighter weight components,
reduced rotational mass, spun aluminum wheels, a floating sprocket
and floating brake hubs on the F4 and F5 models and can have a My-Chron
4 computer system for tracking your lap times, engine rpm, engine
heat and progress. It has a cool Formula One look thanks
to the UNICO bodywork. With its hollow steel axle, flexible chassis
and configurable front spindle adjustments you will be able to tune
the kart for the biggest competitive races in the country. It is
meets IKF, WKA, Stars and all the karting tech requirements for
size. It comes in almost any choice of colors. Rollers from $2865 to
$3775 plus shipping. Lightning Shifter models with front brakes run
$3675 to $4850. Allow up to three weeks for delivery. Our
Lightning ships with everything but a chain, engine, tires and a
sprocket. Remember that with Chromoly your investment is protected
because it is much harder to bend our chassis if you wreck and
Chromoly chassis' have a 40% higher resale value than Italian made
mild steel chassis. Order your Tornado Lightning today
and shock the competition.

Special Notes:
Polley Wins Again
Alanmykael
continues to love the full size slim kart Tornado makes, the
Tornado Rookie. He says the kart is on rails in the corners
and easy to driver. Only a few people have what is a stretch
version of our highly successful Cadet, but those who do
clean up against the Italian imports. Michael and the rest
of the Polleys head off to Newcastle next for some tougher
competition. Thanks for taking us to victory lane with you
again for two races in a row in the Clone engine class!
F1
Tornado Lightning Chassis
The
F1 is our base level chassis with the same frame as our higher end
models. It has a grey cloth covered seat, aluminum wheels and is
designed for club and regional racing where weight may not be as big
of a factor. It is about five pounds heavier than the F4 but still
lighter than most other karts. The steering wheel is covered
in suede and has a flat top and rubber grips on both sides for the
hands. If you only want to buy one chassis and you want it to be in
the same shape to race in two years, buy our Chromoly tubing
Lightning
Tornado and you'll be happy that you made the investment. $3065
F1 in
shifter configuration with front brakes $3875
The F4
is a
high end competition chassis with reduced rotational mass and nicer
looking components. It has a Tillet seat, special aluminum wheels
built just for a adult Kart and is designed for national and
regional racing where weight may be a big factor. The Tillet seat is
hand laid glass and lighter. It is mounted with a swivel mount so
that the chassis flexes appropriately. The brake rotor is a special
vented light weight rotor to reduce rotating mass and it is mounted on
a patented floating rotor. The front spindles are 17mm. The sprocket
is also a patented floating sprocket to keep chain bind to a minimum
while the axle flexes in the corners. The floating components keep
the chassis flex from slowing the kart in the corner by binding the
calipers or the chain. Even the caliper is a lighter weight
component. The main benefit of the Tornado line is how it handles
in the corners. When going through
the corners this greatly reduces the drag because the inside wheel
on most karts acts as a brake. With our Tornado Lightening your driver
will sail through the corners. $3275
F4 In
Shifter Configuration $4275
Lightning
F5 Chassis
The
F5
is our
high end competition chassis with a MyChron 4 computer tracking
system, reduced rotational mass, front end adjustments for caster
and camber, single piece front rims and nicer looking components.
You have the choice of a 50 mm Axle, 40mm axle, 30 mm soft steel axle or 1.25
inch middle stiff steel axle. You have a choice of two seat mounting
strategies to adjust the way the kart handles, two rear ride height
settings and seven front ride height settings. It has a Tillet
seat for heavy drivers or a more flexible padded seat for light
weight drivers. It comes with Douglas spun aluminum wheels in
polished or black. If you want ceramic bearings just add $295. Investment for a F5 $3775.
F5 In
Shifter Configuration $4875

Engine Choices
Yamaha KT 100 - The Workhorse of the karting world for decades.
If you are in a part of the country that still races Yamaha's then
that's what you'll put on to race with the pack. It's a proven
engine and there are plenty of them out there. You'll lug around a
heavy electric started and usually need to stay up on a wet clutch
adjustment or two but this equipment has been proven. We can
supply you with a new one, a blueprinted one or find you a great old
used one that has a heritage and race history.
Rotax - A touch and go radiator cooled engine that is easy to
use. This is a sealed engine class that is meant to keep the cost
down a bit by keeping the specifications the same, no blueprinting
allowed and seals to make sure they're pretty similar inside.
Certain parts of the country have a special race series just for
Rotaxians but usually these engines are not part of a standard
regional program.
Tag 100 - This is the most popular class over the last two years.
The electric start, touch and go, purpose built engine with a dry
clutch is probably the easiest package to race with. Some
blueprinting is allowed and you don't have to go to an authorize
service center to get it sealed if you want to replace the piston
yourself.
PRD Spec Engine - Probably the hottest new class in Southern
California in years. It's low cost approach to racing is catching on
in the slowing West Coast economy.
Shifter Engine - If you love going fast and are unafraid of the
speed and challenge of shifting while driving then this is the
ultimate class.
Whatever you choose we can get you a new engine, set it up for
your new Tornado Kart and have in ready for you. Usually we ship
engines and kart separately for safety of transport and for shipping
classification rules. We don't claim to be the world's expert in
every engine class. We find the best, partner with them and then add
a bit more expertise to make it all work together with our chassis
so you can run up front. We are not a Rotax service center but know
who the best ones are and can direct you or work on your behalf to
acquire the best package for you needs.
Tornado Team TKO Umbrella Girls
Our engineers at the
Tornado Kart Organization recently took some time to examine chassis
flex, how to soften tires, cool engines and make guys hot at the
track. They tested several different girls to see which ones would
be best to assist our customers at the track. We would like your
opinion to see if you come up with the same data as they did. Please

Basking in the Sun too
much at the track? Maybe Melaine would be a good choice to hold your
umbrella and keep that head of yours cool before the race... She
loves the Sun and Tornado Kart Drivers

Magnetic Mai
Finish The Race The Right Way
Mai could probably encourage you to get to the finish line a
little faster. Even if you didn't win you'd certainly be smiling as
she leans oven and asks to help you with your helmet. If she
attracts your attention vote for her!

Mai can give you tips on track layout...
Smiling Sammy
Maybe you like brunettes and need someone to hold that freshly
